Hi, I just wanted to clear something up for my own piece of mind - my client works from home and I have had a few receipts handed to me such as Flymo grasscutter/hoover/kettles etc. It could be said that these items are needed for the business, but can I claim the Vat back on them? (I know they are predominantly private) - I don't think I can, but I just need clarification as I wouldn't want to not claim it if I can!
If it's a domestic cleaning and gardening business then they may be allowable (Even the kettle).
If the purchases are however as I suspect not incurred wholly and exclusively for the purposes of the business then they cannot put them through the business at all. (Not just the VAT side of things).
Tut, some clients! what dubious reasoning did they offer for these purchases?

Well Amanda, they do need to flatten out all of those invoices that have been scrunched up in the glove box of the van for months. lol
