New Clear Books Client

I've just picked up a new client who tells me they use some software called Clear Books. I've not come across Clear Books before, or indeed seen a copy of the clients records.

Is it any good or similar to Sage which I mainly use?

yet more pay forever cloud stuff.

Have a look at the development team on their site. Looks as though they're all around 16-17 years old. Not in itself a reason not to buy and certainly their site looks very professional.

You can get a free trial of the software and I think that the first thing that I would be trying to do is work out how one exports the data into another software package, just in case!

I used to use CB at a company in Canada and it was fine... If they use it they can give you their login details to work on at home. I think its quite good because the company can monitor what you're doing and vice versa. Theres also a FB style wall to look at whats been done recently (ie it tells you if an invoice has been added etc).

If you've got the bookkeeping/accounting knowledge then you'll get on well with this program.

I've used it and liked it at first, but found it didn't have the fundtionality I needed. For instance, attempting to reconcile a supplier statement to Clearbooks when there are numerous transactions each month proved to be impossible. I also get very frustrated with cloud software because even with a good internet connection, it's that bit slower than desktop packages and you can't quickly navigate between different screens.

It's OK for a very small business but I wouldn't want to use it for anything bigger.
