VAT on warm takeaway pizza

Would a shop keeper need to add VAT to a warmed up pizza to be eaten away from a cafe? Having a mental blank if anyone can assist.

Cheers!

Yes there is VAT on takeaway pizzas

See the following link

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/vfoodmanual/vfood4260.htm

which says

"The law states that a supply of hot food is standard-rated if it:

has been heated for the purposes of enabling it to be consumed at a temperature above the ambient air temperature. "

Would say that this applies to pizzas.

Regards

All the takeaway pizzas we get are cold. Do you think they purposely do that so they don't pay VAT? The thought had never occured to me before - I just thought they were rubbish at delivering warm pizza lol
