Convert reports to PDF - Sage V12

"If it aint broke don't fix it" - I agree, although I wouldn't say that Excel 2000 ain't broke. I'm not talking from an anti-Office stance, just that there have been security issues which later versions fix, since support in Windows/Microsoft Update for Office 2000 has long since stopped, and for that reason alone I would not use an old version of Office. But also, it's quite possible that some stuff won't load in Excel 2000 if features added in Excel 2003/XP/and so on are used in a spreadsheet, so I would at least get up to Office XP or 2003.

As regard to the original query, you should be able to save a web page to file. Look for an option like "Save page as..." or something in the "File" menu. You'll probably then get an HTML page and a folder containing images and such like, which you can then email (best way to do that would be to ZIP up the whole lot and then you only have one attachment to add (the way to do *that*, in Windows, is to put the lot into a folder on their own and then right-click > send to... compressed folder)).

If you are using Ubuntu, and not WIndows (well, you never know), you can print, choose "Print to file" and select PDF format to save the web page directly as a PDF file.

Hi

I have Sage v12 and cannot access an option to convert my reports to a PDF versionno so that they can easily be emailed to eg the client/Accountant.

Can anyone please help me save them to PDF?  Or any other ideas so that I can email them?

Thanks

Cheshire biggrin

When you run a report, there should be a toolbar at the bottom of the report window.  You can use the 'Save As' button to save the report as a PDF file or the 'E-mail' button to generate an e-mail with a PDF attachment.

Hi
I dont have the PDF option in the save as/email screen, presumably because its an old version of Sage (v12). The emails are only in HTML version which can be viewed through a browser - do you know of any other options?

You could try downloading a free PDF converter (such as PrimoPDF).  If you then try to print the Sage report, you should be able to choose the PDF converter as the 'printer' that you want to use.

How about upgrade your version of SAGE?

If you are providing bookkeeping services then surely you should have a more up to date version than V12.  Doubt SAGE would support it if anything goes wrong.

Hi Mark,

but surely Sage is just bookkeeping software and bookkeeping (unlike accountancy) never changes so if someone is happy with a version and has no reason to change then why not stick with it?

I know that whilst I will buy VT Accounts every year if I were only doing bookkeeping I would not buy a new VT Transaction+ as to my mind it does everything that I want it to how I want it to do it so why change it.

In a similar way I know that there are a lot of banks out there that like Excel 2000 and have no intention of moving to the newer options that would cost a fortune in rewriting Macro's.

I'm very much a follower of the old adage "If it aint broke don't fix it".

Shaun.
