Work Related illness
Permalink Closed

As I am sitting here in front of my PC which I have been doing now for well over 10 years for sometimes more than 14 hours a day it dawned on my that I have exactly the same health problems of that of our company owner Gary, who sits in front of his PC for probably 16 hours a day. When I used to run a Butchers shop the work related illnesses were Veracious Veins and Gout, this down to the ample amount of red meat available to butchers and the amount of time standing on your feet.

No in a sit on my backside all day position my ailments are somewhat different and mostly all stress related, so my question is what would you consider to be the most common work related illness in the Bookkeeping and Accounting profession?

Dave

Or as I am known in the office IBS man biggrin

Hi Dave,

Sorry, can't find a bigger version of this picture but thought it quite apt to your ailment.

That's cool!

I have noticed that since starting out on my chosen path, the adverts that appear on webpages i am browsing are a lot more tasteful lol.

I say tasteful, most of them are for Sage.

Lol can always rely on Shaun to cheer me up when I am on a downer, love it and it now explains why I walk hunched over like I am looking for a penny on the floor, it is all down to the profession and staring at the PC all day, its the invention of the devil I swear it is lol.

Yes it is odd that the male of develoution is sitting in front of his PC naked, does this indicate that all males are sexual deviants? I wonder what the female counterpart would be doing? Probably chatting on Facebook about a great new reality show that has started. Hang on!!!! Im living with her. Back on a downer. Nice one Shaun

I seem to get two types of advert. One type is adverts for Sage, which is fair enough.

The other kind seem to be dating sites. These are probably from ad agencies that link with Farcebook, which is where I see these most, and are probably triggered by my 'relationship status' being set as single. (That's one of the few pieces of information that Farcebook has about me that's genuine. My address and telephone number are c/o the Information Commissioner's Office, for example.)

@Dave The biggest health risk in this line of work is getting punched by a client after you tell him a few home truths. Or maybe that's just me. ;)

Never happened to me but then I'm six foot and solid built so maybe I'm just lucky enough to have clients who understand the risk to return ratio of going down that path. lol.

The ad that I keep getting is the London School of Business and Finance ACCA courses.

My boy gets ads for a gaming laptop. The Razer Blade. Has to be the sexiest looking latop that I've ever seen (exen better than the XPS or Alienware laptops) with the mouse pad being a small second screen in it's own right.... I want one of those... Think that they've got the advertising mixed up there or maybe I should spend more time gaming and less time working / studying in order to get a better class of ad.

And when did any thread with Neil and myself  (or Bill (wella) when he's around) ever stay on subject.

You don't think laptops are sexy.... But... Alienware.... XPS.... shiny underkeyboard lighting.... How can you not... Hey, maybe this is why my PC's last longer than my girlfreinds!

Lol Vince I would have that down as an occupational hazzard as opposed to a work related illness. So do all Bookkeepers wear sunglasses? lol

Dave
