Can you reclaim VAT on a purchase from IKEA?

For a desk that is for business office.  Is it right that because they are VAT registered in EU, you cannot claim the VAT back?

Hi Keren,

I think you will pay VAT on the goods when they come into the country if the supplier is in the EU.  You will then be able to claim this back.

When you say "they are VAT registered in EU".... to whom are you referring? Ikea's VAT registration or the client's VAT registration? Ikea has a UK VAT registration number for it's UK shops.

Hi,

I did mean Ikea's VAT number.  Thanks for the clarification.  I was fairly sure they must have a UK number.
