Registering for self-assessment - response from HMRC

HMRC have not responded to a client who submitted their self-assessment registeration forms 14 weeks ago. Is this normal?

I would have thought to get a reply quickly from HMRC would be more frightening

I guess - but the client is getting a little restless - and when I do contact HMRC, they don't want to talk to me....

Is this the SA1 to register as self employed? If so the client may be quicker calling the new self employed hotline on 0845 915 4515. They'll do it all over the phone then.

yes, it is the SA1 form.
Client has called several times and has been told that they will be in contact - but hasn't heard anything from HMRC.

The reason why client is eager to get confirmation is because their customers want to see proof that they are registered for self-assessment
