Training Link are pleased to announce we have been nominated for three ICB awards which include Tutor of The Year, Student of The Year and Training Provider of the Year. Well done to all other nominees and good luck. For full list please click following link.
Great news, good luck on all three Dave and also good luck in the BKN awards on Monday.
Your category is such a hard one to call and it can't be emphasised enough to readers that I'm sure that its going to be a close one.
People, your votes really matter. Who wins is down to you so get your last minute votes in now before it's too late.
Your fingers must be chewed down to the knuckles Dave!
Good luck matey,
all the best,
Shaun.

I see that a certain "he who's name we shall not speak" training provider is up on that list a couple of times..
There's been some activity over on the AAT forum concerning "he who's name we shall not speak" since AAT actually make recommendations for said training providers.

It seems the post i have been reading goes back to 2007 but is still ongoing (issue might have been resolved but since certain providers have supposed to have changed their ways and attitudes i would have expected this to have been resolved before now)
Just to clear something up, to be "nominated" for an award (as we have) you need to pay a fee of £160, and you can nominate yourself. So imagine that "training provider who we must not name" have just paid the money and applied themselves. Although i stand to be corrected and student may have nominated them and been so impressed with their customer service that they paid their fee aswell!
To be fair i think the training provider catagory is a hard one as there are a lot companies who are doing excellent work.

You do have to pay to nominate yourself but that does not guarantee selection, many factors are taken into consideration such as student enrolments, student pass rates, secret shopper feedback, practice members, student feedback. I know for a fact not everyone who PAID to nominate themselves have made it to the final nominees. This thread was not started to start another debate about a certain provider but a celebration for all who have done well within the ICB regardless of if student, provider, tutor,Bookkeeper?

And Dawns not even posted in this thread. How unfair is that.

Lol Really Shaun, and my Dads bigger than your Dad and if I am a really good boy I can stay up after the watershed this weekend.
Dave
I'm thinking that as it's a got to be in it to win it, buy your lottery ticket for a nomination approach maybe the ICB should consider rechristening the awards the Lucrative Awards (Luca, Lucrative, see what I did there. )

I tell you what Dave, your dad may be bigger but i wouldn't like to get into a debate with Shaun's dad about that, if Shaun is a chip off the old block, as we could be here well after the bell rings lol.
My Dads a big fella but he's easy to outrun as his legs are messed up from spending a lifetime working down the pit (he was a chargehand fitter).
On the debating thing he is true labour through and through. I'm provisional wing conservative... One debate ended up in not speaking for six months. Neither of us would back down until other circumstances put the argument into perspective.
He does sometimes seem to have the approach of picking the opposite stance to his beliefs just so that he can get an argument out of it.
I don't think that I suffer from that but I won't back down from a debate and I reccon that he's the one who instilled that pig headed, stubborn, sense of purpose in me.
Better than the debates are the monopoly games as we both cheat and we've developed additional rules... I like our amendment to the rules where one can loan money at whatever one thinks that they can get away with to someone that they've just bankrupted. We also have trade in mortgaged properties and refinancing arrangements.
Mmm, think that it just clicked what influenced my decision to go down the banking path as well.

Shaun you are a gem, some would say GENIUS but the pay for your nomination thing I totally agree with, what if the best ICB Training Provider did not pay to nominate themselves they would be excluded, this is fact based but BKN award although you dont have to pay you still have to generate enough votes? Am I wrong?
So surley if Training Link had a database of 5000 happy students they would get more votes than another provider with 1000 happy students. These awards are important for the growth of companies like Training Link and as just Training Providers we cannot control the politics of the organisations who give out the awards only adhere to their chosen criteria. We (Training Providers) are for the most hard working people who care about our students.
BKNers I would like to think would congratulate those who have been selected for a BKN or ICB award and not devalue it because of politics that we have no control over.
I've just got back from the cobblers with a trophy i picked up for a tenner plus a fiver to have it engraved and i am now the proud owner of the "L33t 2012" award lol.
No matter how you gain entrance, it will always be your hard work that shines through Dave.
Perhaps you can get me a trophy for the BKN/Training Link fantasy football trophy at them prices, we can tell steve it cost hundreds and share the profits? Steve its a joke lol

Not strictly true. Yes, you do pay £160. However, the entry fee includes the cost of the ICB Global Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony. The ticket price for the dinner is £160. So, in reality, all that pay the £160 does is to ensure that you'll be there to collect the award, should you be lucky enough to win it.

That is true, but it does limit the potential winners to people who can/can afford to go.
However, as Dave says not everyone got through to the final round and so it is a great achievement for everyone who did. Looking at the nominees of all catagories the competition is tough.
As Premier Training's representative i will be going, but the competition for Training Provider of the year is so close, it will be a really good night no matter who wins. It will also be good to meet some other BKN'ers.
