I have been a member for a good year or so now and through this time I have noticed many things!! Such as the members who make regular posts, members who only post on certain threads, the new members who last 5 minutes, members who only post when a marketing opportunity arises, a forum is a bit like the world, it takes all sorts to make it work!!!! However through all this there has been one person who has always been there for each and every member, regardless of topic, regardless of debate and always offers words of encouragment to every single member! I dont know if this person has ever been recognised or even thanked for the efforts he puts into this forum and as such I have started this thread. The person I am talking about is Shaun AKA Shamus.
So to you Sir I say thank you, people like you are few and far between and although I dont always agree with you, you are a rare breed.
THANK YOU MATE
Ps (this thread was started just to soften the blow if he does not win a BKN award this year)
Sorry couldnt help myself, but in all seriousness mate you are a legend.
Got to agree with all that Dave has said. The forum wouldn't be the same without Shaun and his wide experience in finance and IT. That he is also on a long and hard road of accountancy study means he can bring something to anybody who asks a question, which you can without fear of favour.
Cute :). What a pat on the back Shaun. Hope you're blushing with pride :) lol I'm a relatively new poster. I have to say I'm here because of the bookkeepers forums presence on twitter! Found them a while ago on twitter and now I can't resist clicking on tweets that advertise posts like this. Very clever marketing! I do try my best to ban myself from social networking as it's so addictive!!!
No go on the 20s in a brown envelope Im afraid Neil as they are winging the way to you to pay for that 10k Fantasy football trophy you are getting me, already invoiced Steve Hillman for 5k so dont let me down lol.
Anyway sometimes not often but sometime the words Thank You cost nothing but mean a lot. Hey I should be a GURU lol
What do you mean in case I don't win the BKN awards! Of course I will, my assassins are even now taking out both of the other candidates which means by default... :). (Just watched Spartacus Blood and Sand and I like the Roman mangement style. Someone getting in your way? Just brick them up in a cellar).
Anyway, Dave,, I've come over all emotional now.
Many thanks for the vote of confidence but I think that I'm only a little cog in what makes this site special and the real thanks should go to the many who have come together to form a very tight knit little community that goes beyond the bounds of the site.
Some post more or less than others but that does make any post or poster the less for it and every contribution, no matter how large or small has made the site what it is.
We have our foibles and disagreements, we have off days and occassionally misplaced posts but all in all by some miracle the site seems to have attracted an excellent bunch of contributors who work well together, know each others strengths and weaknesses, and genuinely care for the fortunes and knowledge base of other site members.
I think well done to all conributors and whilst there will never be a hall of fame for those who answer so many questions without any demand of rewards a thankyou after answering posts is always well received.
I'm just proud to stand shoulder to shoulder besides the likes of Bill, Tim, Kris, Nick, Mark, Phil, Vince, Tom, Sheila, Amanda, Rob, Pauline, Sue, Stuart, Donna, Liz, Frauke to name but a few that come immediately to mind of long term contributors always happy to help with technical queries and all plus more are equally deserving of any praise to be bandied.
But thankyou for taking the time to notice Dave. It really was much appreciated on a particularly awful day which incorporated
1) having my car broadsided by a muppet that was oblivious to the fact that the person on the roundabout already has the right of way... French car drivers! Just cos they drive the car they think that we have the same highway code.
2) Dad taken into hospital with low blood oxygen meaning that he cannot stay awake (apparently it was a virus he picked up whilst fishing in the cold and wet and he's going to be fine)
3) Son tricked onto the playing field by a "freind" and then set upon by five kids. The first getting him from behind so that he never stood a chance... He doesn't want to report it as such he feels will make matters worse... Sod that. There's going to be an interesting school visit on Monday! (refer back to paragraph 1. The art of negotiation as picked up from watching Spartacus Blood and Sand).
Anyway, on other matters, back to this talk of plain brown envelopes stuffed with used £20's... (I also accept £50's, Gold and non traceable gems).
kind regards,
Shaun.

his parents are both ill and in hospital so he's not able to get on here as much as previously.
Fingers crossed matters will improve for him soon.
Shaun.
p.s. for others reading this when we say Stuart we are refering to Peasie.

Now you say that Shaun, I do remember him saying something about his parents being in hospital, and different hospitals for that matter. I can imagine it most take it's toll.
What you getting for Christmas Dave? More Mills & Boon? lol.
Mmmmm Well if you know a man who knows a man whose cousin can get them cheap I may be interested? Always looking for new ideals and angles Neil, need to have that edge on the others, you have my address just mark them for the attention of the man who is too good to be true, should find its way to me lol
I would like to add my thanks to Shaun for all his hardwork. While being realistic he is always encouraging, this forum has been really helpful in getting my business started and giving me the confidence to take on new clients.
I'd like to add to this: Thank you Shaun. You've helped me out loads - in fact I don't think there's a person on this forum that at some point hasn't been in receipt of your easygoing, knowledgeable and above all welcoming style.
Thanks mate ;0)
