No, not this one. Recruitment. It seems a Delboy operation, except more rewarding. What is it with the end customers - can't they interview anyone themselves? I guess over the years their management has been denuded of decision makers or a personnel department.
He seems to :
Supply candidates where a middle man pays the wage (involving a Byzantine self-billing trail).
Supply candidates where client pays the wage (where he's the middle man).
Supply candidates where the end user pays the wage.
Pass on candidates to end users, where he, in turn is re-charged by the hour by another bureau (2 middle men)
Most candidates operate under the umbrella of a ltd co.
A lot of the invoicing must be by email attachment - loads of b&w A4
Some VAT registered and some aren't but clueless enough to charge it anyway.
In any case there's a lot of VAT floating between these entities which wouldn't happen in a straightforward employment.
It doesn't help that sales and purchases aren't filed separately but everything in chronological order
or that his own letterheaded timesheets are used when he isn't the employer.
Lots of entertaining going on and expenses paid on behalf of the candidates.
Phew, glad thats off me chest.
:o)
PS Great being able to off-load to fellow professionals, artistes, leg-pullers, loan sharks, former residents of the Strangeways suite of rooms - all to a man/woman, mutually helpful.
