Hi all, I have a ltd company client who wants me to help them set up as ltd company and to set up as vat registered, how much would you charge a client for doing this normally?.

Many thanks

Lor

I would charge £120 plus VAT to set up the limited company and I would throw in VAT registration and setting up PAYE as freebies.

They can get it cheaper (and even free with some practices as a loss leader for annual accounts) but I find that clients prefer the hand holding during the process.

Make sure that your PII covers you for this.

kind regards,

Shaun.

Personally i would do both free of charge and include in my monthly fee.

At the moment doing a special deal for newly incorporated limited companies with turnover below £75k of £60 per month to include the following

1. Full year end stat accounts and submission of abb accs to companies house

2. Preparation and submission of company tax return with HMRC

3. Payroll registration and all payroll work for up to 2 employees

4. Preparation and submission of personal tax return for up to 2 directors.

5. Submission of annual return at companies house.

As said if they were looking to set up a company and get VAT reg then i would include free if they signed up to above.

Regards

MarkS

We're about that level, used to charge more when I used a formation agent, but our cost has come down since using Companies House.

If it a one off request then

1. If using formation agents who provide stat books and named memo and articles would charge £200.

2. If using online option such as companies house then would charge £50.

Personally i wouldnt charge for VAT registration on the basis that would pick up either the VAT work or other work.

MarkS

Client had a right go at me last year when I set up a company and charged her £150 + VAT. After I'd quoted, she'd accepted and I'd done the work, she went on Companies House website, found the £18 fee and accused me of trying to rip her off! But she was a real nutcase!

I would imagine that when you put your costs together there would not be too much variance from my charges.

I just go more down the path of a one stop, don't worry we'll set up everything to get you up and running rather than a collection of services amounting to the same.

Both approaches have merit but the end result and cost I assume would be pretty similar.

I've not encountered a limited yet that didn't want VAT registration but if they didn't I still would not reduce the price as it's package price to get them up and running regardless as to what components that incorporates.

kind regards,

Shaun.

Thats why i wouldnt charge someone £200 if they wanted just the basic online package as if i am doing it online and costs me £18 and the 10 mins to get it set up then £200 is a rip off.  That why charge £50 for this service.

If however they want fancy stat books, nice certificate of incorp and named memo and arts then would charge them £200 as the company I use charges me a lot more than £18 to do this.

Most of my recent new incorps are pretty savvy and have just set it up themselves.  Signed one up who did this last week and going to see another who has done the same next week.

Regards

MarkS
