Yeah but what's my excuse?

Edited as i have severely messed my head up now and don't know who spelt what correctly.

We know what we mean and i'm passed caring anyway, what with the price of keyboard ink

it's better to miss a few letters here and there.

Hi all,

just an appology in advance of any postings I make in reply to Tax queries.

I've identified tax (when it gets beyond the basics) as my weakness.

Its one of those area's where you think that you know something but then you read the professional advisor level papers of the CTA and ACCA tax advisor paper P6 and you realise that you really don't... Or at least not to the level that I would feel comfortable with in a room full of accountants.

I will be attempting to answer any tax questions on the site that I get a chance to and feel that I know the answer to but please, feel free to argue with me, or tell me that I'm wrong as I fully expect that I will be, as with the missed key bit of information in the DLA question yesterday that made me think that the £15k 25% exemption was applicable.

As with all things you can only get good with practice and application so whilst I will endeavor to answer questions correctly and within the knowledge base that I believe that I have, expect for there to be one or two fau pars along the way.

So, as I say, many appologies in advance,

kind regards,

Shaun.

I must admit Shaun, you did get me wondering with that one!

Does the apology extend to your spelling of appology/appologies? Or are you being ironic! :)

lol Nick,

Being dyslexic I'll book an advance apology for all future (and past) posts which unlike my tax skills is never likely to improve no matter how much practice I get (as evidenced by 5274 mostly not inconsequential posts riddled with spelling and grammatical mistakes).

Shaun.

No probs Nick. Bonus is I get a more logical mind and better memory than many.

Being a child of the 60's my first few years at primary school they just thought that I was thick and ended up getting dumped in the corner to play with the building blocks and farm set. Then a new teacher who had come across dyslexia before realised that I had one of the rarer versions of it. Basically, I wrote backwards (right to left). Hold the page up to a mirror and it was near perfect (I say near perfect as I also wrote from bottom to top which is just messed up).

Got sorted in no time and I passed all of the others who had been given a head start over the thicky in the corner.

still can't see many of my spelling mistakes though even if I stare at them. But put me in front of computer code and I can see what it is doing (or not doing) with absolute clarity which has made me a pretty penny or two in the past.

Apparently my version of Dyslexia is that I'm a dyslexic who should be left handed but I'm not.... So basically, my brains internal wiring is well messed up. lol

Your writing skills are excellent - nobody would know you have dyslexia! We all make misstakes! Unless you're not human lol :)

When I make mistakes, they're deliberate in an attempt to make myself look human.

Just for the record.

I'm sure i'll grab 7 or 8 in the Steam sales.

I have the new Hitman for a bit of fun, played through the first level. Does what it's supposed to do.

There is a neat feature in Hitman though, players can upload targets so there are (upto now) around 50 000

Player created side missions. I thought that was quite a cool aspect.

I'm in two minds about the latest Ghost Recon release, it looks a little like a Splinter Cell offshoot, Hitman is along

the same sort of gameplay lines but i love 47. If Ghost Recon comes in at a fiver i'll buy. I'm interested in some of the

Greenlight games advertised on Steam too. Got my eye on Dragon's Lair. I remember being too little to play that in

the Blackpool arcades lol.

That's going back some......................

And you?

Morning Neil,

I see it, the gunslinger.... Now that's definitely a film that needs to be remade (unlike the Italian job that should never have been touched... Rumour has it that they are also remaking the seven Samurai!... leave it, back away and nobody has to get hurt here).

Morning Sonya,

many thanks for the kind words, I fear that when let loose with a pen rather than a keyboard my exam scripts are probably somewhat less impressive than my writing on here though. lol

update,

your time hiding behind the tank trap at the top of a mountain (seems a silly place to put one really) is coming to an end Vince as Westworld is being remade by Warner Brothers and you get to try killing Russell Crow this time around.

Russell Crow? meh.

I Have read Lee Childs series of books about a 6'4" blonde ex Military Police Major by the name of Jack Reacher.

Yep the very Jack Reacher that Tom Cruise is playing....go figure.

Saw the trailer for Jack Reacher when we saw the Hobbit and looks worth watching.... If just for the classic muscle car (A Chevelle SS). Any modern German car would run rings around it but its not all about speed, it's how you get there and that car has more screen presence than the star on the posters.

Bit like throwing the DB5 into Skyfall. It's just porn for petrol heads.

I saw Jack Reacher as more of a Gerard Butler kind of guy, wrong colour hair but the right build and attitude.

THIS IS SPARTA!

For green light games I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Grim Dawn which has been developed by the team that gave the world Titan Quest. (my most played game). I actually banned my boy from having any THQ games for a while after Volition (who bought THQ) killed Iron Lore by having them develop Titan Quest 2 and then not taking it up (going with Darksiders instead) but owning the rights to Titan Quest they also did not allow Iron Lore to sell it to any other publisher.

Unfortunately the THQ ban will have to be lifted when company of heroes 2 is released in Jan.

My boys got Hitman for Christmas (plus a few others). I know that I'm finally going to be getting Skyrim but don't know when I'll find time to play it as I'll be wandering around the seedier side of Hong Kong in Sleeping Dogs over the hols.

I may actually indulge in Sleeping Dogs myself, this being one of those games my son skipped over the introduction and

every cut scene going. What platform are you playing it on? Mines the PC version, XBox controller or mouse & keyboard? hmmm decisions, decisions lol.

Skyrim is going to eat a lot of your time, i remember spending hours just looking at the graphics on Oblivion.

Like Mafia II with Sleeping Dogs it's the cut scenes that make the game.

I only use PC's. Keyboard and mouse setup.

Like several other games I suspect that Skyrim will end up installed and not played for a long time.

My boy can't understand how I will play a game to death where as he flits from game to game.

Personally, if I could only have three games on my machine they would be

Titan Quest + Immortal Throne expansion
Empire Total War
Bad Company 2

Can't see myself ever getting tired of any of those.

I've watched my son playing Skyrim (modded to death to turn the place into middle earth) and it is absolutely stunning. Seems to be one of those games that you live rather than play.

Last time i played BF BC2 i caught a sniper in an outbuilding and blasted him in the face at close range with my pistol, maybe 3 times. He just sat there and then shot me with his rifle.

This was the last straw, so many cheats and cheaters throughout the games history, for my liking.

I remember the team spirit of BF2. I haven't even looked at BF3, not interested.

Which is why i have now switched to Arma II, Arma 3 looks amazing.

I must add, i am interested in Guild Wars 2 if you want to treat me lol. I can't see Steam selling that anytime soon.

Also, have you had a look at 'The Secret World' yet Shaun?

Something i need to read up on.

If the other guy was crouching and he had some lag that does happen.

In BFBC2 the other night there was a cheater. Every time I spawned he shot me no matter where I was.

I had two people on his team and told them to watch what this guy was about and when they concurred the entire US team set on the guy using smoke grenades on him all the time so that he could not see to play.

The cheater then respawned on our team and we did the same.

The map that you want to play is Arica harbour and watch out for anyone with a clan tag of "Force" where the o is a target sign.

We always try to play on ROG (Republic of Gamers) and WBKS servers (don't go to Bannana republic as you get kicked for killing the admin).

Even though we all regularly get above a hundred kills a game each I guarantee that there are no cheaters on the force clan if you fancied joining us (generally all front line medics and assault. We don't like camping snipers).

My eldest boys coming up tonight so sometime after 9 tonight have a look for Plova (my youngest), Rew Shardakova (my eldest. Originally we all used the Shardakova suffix until we picked up a clan tag) and M60_Mad_Dog (me) online and join in. (What's your tag and I'll add you as a friend so it's easier to find us).

Like yourself, big fan of BF2 to the point where we knew the best bots to have on team. We still play that occassionally but that one's for Lan parties rather than internet gaming.

Give BFBC2 another try as whilst there are cheats out there they are not liked by the rest of the community who make their lives hell.

Anyhow Steam sales are on, I see Skyrim has been reduced, but so has Hitman. I knew

i should have waited to buy it.

Hi Neil,

We will be on again tonight (it's Friday, it's games night). Hope to see you there.

Skyrims only £12.99 from Amazon so half the steam sale price.

I know the feeling on Absolution as that one was even pre ordered which wasn't so very long ago... Then again, we did get lots of freebies with it (which he'll get to play Christmas day if we can free up enough space on his hard drive to install it (1tb and it's creaking at the seams)).

That one aside the steam sales are so cruel when Amazon has already delivered all of the titles that are now almost being given away.

I'm sure i heard someone mutter 'well, there's always next year'

OMG. You mean that I actually have to pay for this bomb proof shelter and thousand year supply of baked beans that I've purchased!

Suppose that I also have to let Scarlett Johansen, Eva Green and Olga Kurylenko go as well now.... So much for my cunning plan to repopulate the world!
