Some missing receipts
Permalink Closed

Hi there

I am going through my bank statement but am missing some receipts, many petrol - my bank statements shows for example Tesco Garage, the date and the amount - can I still enter them on my records - but with a note saying 'no receipt' can I still claim for them for tax purposes

Many thanks

Hi yes include them so that you can reconcile your bank, but without the receipt you wont be able to reclaim VAT if applicable. If possible, especially for large payments, try and get duplicate invoices e.g. for missing supplier payments.

What i would do is draw up a template and do a 'self certified receipt', as long as you dont do too many and they aren't for too much it shouldn't be an issue... :D

I use something like this for my TA:
Self Certified Receipt

I, 2******2 LCpl Martin, certify that I was unable to get a receipt for the following claim:
On Friday 8th July I purchased the following £
1x Portion of chips 1.80
2x Sausages 1.60
1x Can of coke 70

4.10

This is a Self Certified Receipt as a receipt was not provided
