My computer skills need some help

Hi Everyone,

I have a client who has an Apple Mac, I just do simple spreadsheets for her as she is only part-time, and this is the way she has always done her books for her business.  So I have carried on the same way and process all paperwork at her house, no problem there.  Last week I went to back it up to a memory stick and couldn't work out how to do it?  Normally we just print all the sheets off, and up until now she hasn't wanted me to back anything up to a menory stick, but last week we were running late and I thought if I backed it up to my mmemory stick I could probably down load it on my laptop and finish the job off without having to go again to her house.  Anyway after about 15 mins trying to find out how to back it up I gave up, and she didn't have a clue either!

I plugged the memory stick into the back of the screen where it had plenty of ports but then didn't know what to do next?  Can someone on here help me please?

Plus on one of the spreadsheets she had done she didn't save it and I had to input it all again!  So I just thought backing it up would make sense.

I am not very good on an Apple Mac, I can manage her spreadsheets as they are simple but thats about it to be honest.

Many thanks,

Try that Amanda, if it doesn't work then I just don't know, I've never used a Mac before.

I've printed it off so I shall take it with me tomorrow.

I just couldn't get it to work last week so will have another go.

thanks,

I use a Mac at work, it works very much like a PC.  When you plug in your memory stick it should appear on the desk top as an icon.  Click on it (might be a double click) and either copy and paste the file or save the file from the programme.  You can have 2 windows/folders open and drag between them.  If the mac has a mac mouse, one with only one button, you can "right click" by holding down the Crlr and click the mouse.  You do need to "un mount" the usb stick by draging it to the bin or right clicking.

Hope that helps.

Sylvia
