Charity payments on tax return
Permalink Closed

Need help urgently to complete a return
I have a client who has made a number of payments to charity
All  donations with a small amount to gift aid
                             Don        Aid
Acorns                   50.00    12.50
St Giles                  100.00   nil
Oxfam                      30.00   nil
Womens Cancer
Cycle Kenya            100.00   28.21

That means the Aid amount is a part of the donation so £280 has been paid and 40.71 is a gift aid part of it.

How to I enter this on the Charity page correctly?

Help is appreciated

Hi Alfie,

I saw your post on the ICB forum, but that doesnt let non-members reply in the MIP section.

By the look of it, this looks more like these are donations to charities under the giftaid scheme. In which case they just want to into the charitable giving boxes under tax reliefs rather than filling in the charity pages. Either way only donations under the gift aid scheme should be entered gross.

But as with all tax advice, without seeing all the details i cant be sure of the specifc circumstances.

I ended up over there after forgetting to put a hyphen in a google search and ended up very frustrated that I couldn't help someone to the point where I wrote an answer in the wrong section with a request that someone replied to the poster.

Not been back there since as I regard it as back door censorship only allowing people to respond who have something to lose by saying the wrong thing.

Maybe the response should be that every ICB member only uses the introductions section for absolutely everything so that people with different qualifications and nothing to lose are able to give them the right answers.

Hi Shaun,

yes, I don't understand it, I joined as there is a seperate training provider area of the forum, i thought whilst i was there i would try to help someone out, but obviously not being ICB qualified i couldnt. My AAT and ACA and 7+ years of running a practice dont hold much sway!

Open to all the "riff raff" as we are here is clearly the best way!

Hi Nick,

Well, ACA and AAT and ACCA qualifications don't get you very far with ICB exemptions so obviously they are protecting their members from the misleading and incorrect answers by those like ourselves who have absolutely no idea about bookkeeping... Do you think that I have to give my prize back now?

bad, bad, naughty Shamus. Sarcasm is so unbecoming of you, lol.
