Don't you hate it when you loyally support a company only to find that they want to offer new people a better deal? Thats exactly what Intuit are doing with QuickBooks ProAdvisors. New members are getting 50% off:
In the small print it's just a one year discount Kris.
At the end of the 12 months it goes back to the then current full price.
50% off first year doesn't seem an unreaonable offer. Same as many of us got the accountant edition free where other had paid for it and such must have peeved off a few people who had paid full price.
I wouldn't jump ship because of this as it's just a sales promotion giving new advisors a £192 sweetner to come on board.
kind regards,
Shaun.
p.s. must be a Friday night thing. I just had a serious throw my dummy out of the pram moment and had to go in the garage and feed the rabbits for half an hour before I opened the clients books again.

I get really annoyed with companies who think that it makes sense to gain new clients at the risk of alienating existing clients. I left my gas suppier and sky for the same reason. It just means they need to work that bit harder, and makes me feel better.
£200 is better in my pocket, a loyal customer than someone who joins because of a low price and will more than likely leave when another company offers lower.
I think that they work to the principle that many people will have had some deal when they first started (free software, discounted software, etc.) so it all evens itself out.
In some cases I know what you mean. Think that we've all seeen the bank accounts and utility tariffs not available to existing customers that are permanently better deals rather than introductory discounts such as the intuit deal.
The difference with software of course is that once they have you then changing is not so easy as you grow to like the software and also there is the data transfer time cost to be considered.
All in all Intuit are just trying to get more people to give their product a chance and a discount certainly doesn't hurt that objective.
Actually, thinking about that I must check out the American licence to see what they are like once they have dominated the market place. Is it still unlimited clients using the US rather than UK version of the software?
If you received no discounts when initially signing up then give them a call and see if there is some offer that they will give you to make up for the fact that you received no initial sweetners.
Might get you nowhere but then again....
Shaun.

you're right, they're giving them away to businesses at the moment. The version that you get depends on the size of business that you have
Also there were free copies of Quickbooks accountant edition at the roadshows.
The thing that I think differentiates the pro advisor program is that you are buying into part of a network so its another source of generating the right sort of leads. For example, all of those people wandering out of Barclays and wondering what to do with their newly acquired software.
I'm not sure whether being on the program is converting into a cost effective return for people yet, I'll leave that for other already on the program to fill in the gaps.
all the best,
Shaun.

I don't know whether my moan makes sense, I accept that sometimes there are sales on products, and sometimes companies give away products in the hope that other product will be bought. I get that.
My issue is when I am paying twice as much each month as someone else for the same service because I bought into it sooner than they did. I am subsidising others to get it cheaper than me.
I'm with you Kris! I find these sorts of stunts outrageous, I HATE sky for this!!! ALWAYS offering new customers the latest and greatest equipment and those who have the older stuff have to pay for it! Take for example the new sky hub thing, £50 if you're an existing customer... free for those who are new! Yet this new hub works better with the box and helps the 'ondemand' feature!
Let me know how you get on Kris, I'd be interested to hear what you get! TBH, i think they may be doing it as they are trying to shift the 2013 version to make room for 2014, as those who sign up now wont get it for the next 12-14 months... where as us as existing proadvisors may get the new version in the next few months... :/
