I would like an answer to the following question, but before I do...
I am currently doing a tax return for a client and he has included within his receipts and invoices payment for physiotherapy to an injury his has to his arm owing to being a decorator.
What I would like to know as I have not come upon this situation before ...
"Is a physiotherapy payment receipt tax deductible, and if it is what category do I included it under when producing a Profit and Loss Account?"
All answers are welcome, but of course I want the correct one.
I would say no for the same reason that private health insurance is not an allowable expense.
There is a national health service so if the injury was serious enough to warrant treatment there was a free option so why would the state compensate a taxpayer by way of reduced tax yield for getting either better care or the same care faster.
The business can of course pay for the treatment but it will be a benefit in kind on thetaxpaper.
For any one reading this do not confuse Health Insurance (mentioned here) and Key person permanent health Insurance (that you may have seen in clients books) which is a business rather than private expense as the beneficiary of he insurance is the business.
Well, that's my take on it.
kind regards,
Shaun.
