Really hoping someone can help me out, it's my first time dealing with rendundancy payments. An employee has just been made redundant and I'm trying to work out his final pay. As I understand it he is entitled to two weeks salary as he has worked over two years andt his is liable to pay paye and nic on this. He also gets two weeks payment in lieu of notice which is not liable to paye or nic. As he usually receives a gratuity would this be a compulsory payment? He does not receive gratuity whilst on holidays, only the weeks he actually worked. There is no provision in his contract in regards to gratuity payments. Ive found conflicting info online as to whether additional money this should be paid. Also am I correct in thinking that the date on his P45 would be the end of his notice period rather than his last actual day of work? I hope this makes sense and any advice would be great.
