Hello everyone!
I can't believe it's February already. How is business / employment for you so far this year? We've had a busy few months which is one of the reasons I've not been able to visit.
The other is - I DID IT! I managed to do a full three weeks volunteering as an accounting technician at a charity in Malawi, Africa. The first week was a major challenge but then I settled and i'm proud to say made a difference and some lovely friends.
If you're interested I travelled with www.AFID.org.uk who are dedicated to this work.
It was interesting to see bookkeeping systems really don't differ greatly overseas :) And ultimately neither do people!
Hit the ground running when I returned and haven't stopped. This year sees the introduction of the AAT's revised accounting qualification which always creates a mountain of work.
Hope you're all doing fine and 2013 is lucky for you!
Sonya
Happy New Year Sonya, I wondered why you had gone AWOL, bet your glad to be back in the gritting capital of the WORLD. Eat your heart out Clarkson. lol
And hoping that you have a great and prosperous new year as well.
So, tell more about Malawi.
Did you end up doing what yo thought that you would?
On the paragraphs front, what browser are you using?
Shaun.

To be honest I didn't have a clue what to expect. It was basic bookkeeping - manual as we only had electricity 25% of the time! But more about developing the people. They lack skills that we REALLY TAKE FOR GRANTED. I got so much pleasure from simply building their confidence and belief in themselves and their abilities. And helping them think for themselves. Very rewarding :)
