I want to set up a pub accountancy package to roll out commercially as soon as possible but I need some qualifications (late in life) and/or practical experience. Does anyone require unpaid help 2-3 days per week at the same time showing me the ropes up to trial balance? I have good basic bookkeeping knowledge manually but need practical intro into using software. Anywhere within 25 miles of Wincanton. Quick learner; reliable; trustworthy; good timekeeper; fair knowledge of all elements Microsoft Office; fully experienced with customer services and meeting clients face to face.
The idea is that I will perform a liquor & food stocktake once per month instantly providing management accounts based on the GP's from the stock (all on site) and then leave the projection of P/L for the next MAT year together with cash flow projection for the same period. VAT return, Payroll if required. The projected figures will also simulate the position if improved (and attainable) GP'sand/or trading improvements are implemented, I am seeking software which will perform all this.
Thanks, Steve Culverhouse

welcome to the forum and hope that you find the position that you are looking for.
I've tidied up the duplicate post as all regular readers of the site use the recent posts button rather than going into specific sub categories so you thread will be picked up.
With existing bookkeeping experience as you indicate then the ICB or IAB qualifications would not take too long to acquire (AICB should be achievable inside three months).
In the currently flooded market place bookkeeping qualifications mean less to employers than the experience but, the qualifications would make you stand out from those with similar experience that do not have them (and even then employers want AAT or higher).
Strong knowledge of Excel is an assumed skill. Bookkeepers will be looking for strong working knowledge of an accounting package such as Sage, Quickbooks, or one (or more) of the cloud offerings such as Kashflow, Xero etc. in order to consider you as a trainee. The real bit of luck though is having the software skills that are needed when nobody else does.
Sage is the favorite but it's also the one that most people are qualified in.
No matter what qualifications one holds or software one knows there is no guarantee of finding work in the current climate.
Also, you may struggle to find work in restricting yourself to a particular town or county (or even England! much of my work comes from Scotland and Wales) but good luck anyway,
kind regards,
Shaun.
p.s. just cleaned up two more of the same post.
