Im really quite concerned about how 'prepared' the HMRC are for RTI
I am an agent for a very few clients for payroll, and have spent over 3 hours on the phone today with the HMRC, at my expense, getting nowhere! I thought this is meant to be reducing administration time!
I would advise all payroll agents out there to check that they are receving all PAYE coding notices for your clients employees.
Luckily one of my clients employees, came to me with his PAYE P2 change of coding notice for year 2013-2014 which he had received at his home address. I realised the employer had never had a paper copy of this, nor had I received an email, nor is this notice showing on line. Ive treble checked all my settings on the HMRC agent site and I am definatley set up correctly to receive notifications of this on line and by email.
and its taken over 3 hours for the HMRC to finally realise that this is a problem that needs investigating.
Why on earth is it saying ' no code notices have been issued for this client' when clearly they have.
Over 3 hours later on the telephone I finally got an investigation case opened.
Nobody wanted to take responsibily at the HMRC although they were trying to be as helpful as possible, they just did not know how to answer this. Instead I was directed from the employers helpline - to the employees helpline - to the agents helpline, then to the online services helpline and not one of them seem to know what the other helpline does. GRRRR... so frustrating... and all im trying to do is be ready for RTI in advance... which Im sure and I hope will run smoothly once in place. (PLEASE!)
I have received an email notifying me of coding notices but when I try to click on them after I have logged in it does nothing so I can't actually see them.
Thanks for the feed back - as soon as I hear back from the HMRC regarding this case - Ill let you know. There is def a problem with displaying online coding notices, and Im glad to hear its not just on mine. Many thanks Claire
Some of you might find that your coding notices (P9) are for next year 2013/14 where as your agent home page will be displaying the current tax year. To view these notices change the tax year at the top of the tax code notices page. Hope this helps some if not all of you.
Sadly, It doesnt help my situ - I had already changed the drop down menu to '2013/2014' but still no notices. It must be a problem with the set up between HMRC and myself - hopefully they will get to the bottom of it and let me know soon.
Ah thanks that works for me. I have changed the year and its letting me view and print them. The only problem is that HMRC have sent me codes to use with their previous employment even though P45's have been submitted and they have been set up as a starter with a new company. Do I just use these codes in the company that they currently work for?
I would suggest that its ok to use the codes for the new company, if P45's and new starters have all been done, yes. I have been advised by HMrC this morn that there is over an 8 week delay in online coding notices at the moment, which is why mine aren't showing online as yet (even tho the employee received his paper copy in January)
So maybe you will receive the new ones for the current employee soon? (Dont hold your breathe tho - just in case!)
