Volunteering Websites.
Permalink Closed

Hi

Just thought people may like to post links to any volunteering websites such as Do-it (www.do-it.org)

For all the students who are trying their hardest to gain some experience to help get a foot in the door.

I've just signed up on http://www.reachskills.org.uk/ and it looks like it may be a good move, time will tell.

If anybody knows of anymore please can they post the links (i'm sure our moderator has nowt better to do

than check that the links aren't dodgy lol, Big thanks to Shaun)

Thanks for your time

Neil.

I signed up at www.do-it.org today, have heard some good things about it from other students.

Also, not a volunteering website but Oxfam have been recommended to me as a good company to do voluntary accounting related work experience with. :)

I work with a lot of charities, they often post volunteer opportunities on do-it.org but they will also offer opportunities on their own web pages too.

If you want to work with a charity they often have unadvertised volunteer vacancies (particularly for volunteer accountants as they find them difficult to source). If you want to work with a particular charity I would recommend picking the phone up and speaking to them. I'm a treasurer at two charities because I proactively asked them if they needed any help but then I do have substantial charity experience.

Beware though working with charities whilst very rewarding does has it's draw backs as you can get sucked in and it ends up taking over your entire life - you have been warned!!

If, like me, you're in scotland the website to try for voluntary roles is Volunteer Scotland at www.volunteerscotland.org.uk
