Tax codes

I had to change all the tax codes today to 944L which is fine, but one of the employees used to get a better allowance due to laundry so instead of 810L he got 822L. Does that mean he should now be on 956L or should he re-apply or will HMRC let me know?

Anyone on a 'L' code has to have 134 added to the code, so if someone had a code of 805L you would add 134 to it so new code would be 939L. The exception to this is if the employee has had a coding notice from HMRC over the past few weeks, if so then you would use that code instead.
