Business appears to be picking up at the moment, thankfuly, and I have been asked to provide a quote for a lady who trades on ebay. She has a shop on there. She also sells from her premises. So she has a paypal account and a buisness account to reconcile, ebay transactions and office based transactions. Her ebay turnover is approx £7k a month, and will need to register for VAT soon. She keeps no books herself except paper record of her office sales.
I haven't worked for a ebay client before, what would you quote approx in this situation?
Am I right in that ebay and paypal transactions can be downloaded in batches so that I can then summarise and record on my software?
We specialise in accounts and bookkeeping for eBay and other online traders. We generally download PayPal figures for the month and then calculate sales, fees etc as a monthly figure. It can be a bit fiddly as PayPal statements aren't the easiest to deal with, so you need to get used to how they work but if you can then set up a pivot table, it's relatively straightforward.
It's hard to suggest a fee without knowing about purchases etc, but to give you a starting point, we charge £20 per month for the PayPal/eBay summary calculations alone.
I use spreadsheets a lot as well as VT transaction, so if I could get her to provide the information is csv? format I should be able to get the figures fairly quickly (me hopes ) I don't think she knows how to get the information, but I can lead her through it. I am waiting to hear how many purchases she makes etc, but she says that her monthly turnover is steadily increasing, so I will need to consider that when quoting fixed prices! Also, if she becomes VAT registered it will incur more time.
