I am about to make my first RTI submission for a client, and I assume that to log into the HMRC Gateway to do this I need to enter my own Gateway User ID and password. I have just had a sudden thought, and wanted to make sure this is correct and that I dont enter my Gateway Agent Identifier instead. Would be very grateful if somebody could confirm that it is my User ID and not Agent Identifier that I use before I end up in a pickle.
I was going to add earlier that I didn't think it would matter which one you logged in with.
I'm sure I read on the internet (so naturally, it can be taken as gospel) that as long as you are logged in it doesn't matter what you are logged in with. So, for example, if you are not an Agent for a client at the time, as long as you have the PAYE references you can still submit, with your own Agent log-in.

The technical position is that any gateway login enrolled for PAYE for Employers can file for any scheme if the PAYE ref and Accounts Office ref is known. The legal position may be another matter...
