If someone is self employed and freelance but they base their marketing and record keeping from home can they claim travel expenses if they travel to work at their client's premises on a weekly basis?
What is the expected contract duration? (is the contract open ended?)
Is there a contract FOR services? (as opposed to a contract of service)
Normal commuting is not an allowable expense so the onous lies on whether the journey is normal commuting or not.
If the work is as a temp that is in reality a part time employee and you would not be able to claim travel as even though only for a short period the clients site is the normal place of work.
If the work is a contract for services where you are free to have other clients during the period that is the one that can be argued in limited circumstances that the journeys are not normal commuting.
