I would like to ask if there is any benefit of buying QuickBooks if I already have Bookcert Pro (the bookkeeping software from Bookcert Business Kit based on Excel)
Many thanks,
Adrian

ask yourself why accountants have Sage and Quickbooks and VT and Xero... etc. etc... rather than just one of them.
It comes down to that we need to use the same software as our clients so that we are able to take their files as input.
That said, there are many clients for whom we do everything and for those we choose the software.
Then there is a third sort of relationship where we do the bookkeeping before passing the work to the clients accountant in which case whilst the client may not dictate the software the accountant does.
Yes there are options to migrate software between packages but I have yet to see a case where such works seamlessly.
Sage and Quickbooks have advanced stock control features which are excellent for management reporting. Certainly that area is more advanced than VT but that said it is horses for courses and for financial reporting VT Accounts leaves QB for dead.
As you are just starting out you really need to know Sage and QB as those two are the one's most likely to be used by clients.
Not used the Bookcert kit so cannot comment on the software.
Shaun.

Intuit keep having sales where QB Pro is sold for £99.

The problem with payroll is that I did not get the AAT exams for payroll, I think I first need to study a thing or two about payroll before jumping into the water.
99 pounds for QB sound really, really good.
Is it just "QuickBooks Pro" that I have to type on amazon searchbar ?
I do want to use it for me and also bookkeeping for clients so if possible, please advice me on this matter as I am terrible afraid of buying the wrong thing.
Kind regards,
Adrian

Even at £129 its a bargain compared the the Intuit price.
Eeven if you decided that you needed Premier the price is only £249 compared to £519 on the Intuit site.

Make sure that you buy the UK version of the book (little guy waving a union jack in the top left hand corner and on the spine of the book).
My issue with Quickbooks is that I am comparing it to VT and to be honest, performance wise at the moment its like comparing a rabbit to a tortoise.
For that reason I've purchased another book (yet to arrive) but that one is for the Premier / accountant version of the program rather than the Pro version so won't be a great deal of use to you.
Others on here may like to recommend any books that they found useful in getting the software to perform as they would want it to,
kind regards,
Shaun.

As far as can recall Adrian... the pro version is for one business only mate... were you looking at this for one business? or is this to do clients work??
the accountant edition is just one of the brandings of premier (there seem to be dozens of versions of it over the other side of the pond).
Pro and Premier are both multi business.

This version will not be able to open files created with future versions of the software so if your clients use their own copies you will need to keep updating your software to be able to read their files.
kind regards,
Shaun.

The concept now is that you upgrade to the newer version as if a completely fresh purchase.
If you are on one of their Proadvisor programs then upgrades are automatic but the price charged to be on the program is (at the moment) more than you would be paying to purchase the software from Amazon.
Also factor in that you will like as not only change your version of the software every 2-3 years.
If ever you moved to accounts production software that would be a different story and you would need to update the software every year but for a bookkeeping package the only reason to change is if the version that you have does not support the format of the files being given to you by clients.
HTH,
Shaun.
