Resigning as Agent for PAYE
Permalink Closed

Hi, I am no longer acting for a Client I was doing the payroll for and just wondered how I resign as Agent for PAYE. Is it as simple as just removing them from my client list online?

I haven't had to do this before and can't find any information..

Thanks,

Cassie

Hi Cassie
I was keen to know this one too - very timely question. Just found this on HMRC's website which (about 2/3rds of the way down) says to cancel you can phone them or do it on-line, although you must do it for each service they use you for, so you can cancel PAYE but keep acting as a VAT agent for example.

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/agents/authorisation/setup.htm

Their website does also state that they remain responsible for their own tax affairs and also to take any backups you may need before you cancel the facility as agent.
