Correcting the Cashbook balance against Nominal code
Permalink Closed

Hi there....

The Setup

We have two bank accounts for one of our companies. One current account and secondary account.  The payments made between the Current A/C and the secondary A/C should be done through the cashbook via the 'inter account transfer' option on Sage 200.  Unfortunatly, some of my previous collegaues, decided to not do this and only do it via the nominal ledger.

The Problem

As you can now imagine, I have a difference between the cashbook value and the nominal ledger value for the Secondary A/C.   The balance, however, in the nominal ledger is correct as per the bank statement.

My Question

My question is, how can I correct my cashbook so that it now matches the nominal ledger account balance which is correct.  My manager did something before (for another company) where by she posted to the suspense account and then did a payment on the cashbook and it corrected it?

To help, the nominal ledger bank account is currently at 429.89 (correct), however the cashbook is showing a negative figure of -48.84.

Could someone kindly help me as to the journal I need to post to correct the cashbook?

Thanks

Steve
