I work for a group of companies who have just decided to change their payroll date from end of month to first week of month- how do I notify HMRC of change in date? (if its through the software - they use 12Pay)

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
I'll stand corrected but in general you'd submit a nil Employers Payment Summary on the usual date - then a week later a Full Payment Summary. That would make it pretty clear that the payroll date had changed.
You can change the payroll date as your first action in a month (before calculating), or click the "Restart Month" button on the payroll form at any time to open up the payroll date.
Does the change mean that there will be a PAYE month with no payments at all? If so you'd need to file a nil EPS for the blank month, which we can tell you how to do.
Hi Tom
They normally run payroll on 26th and they will be moving it until 31st so there still will be payments within the month.
I will need to know how to run a nil EPS, though, at some point though as just registered for another company at HMRC and now found the payroll might not be run for October.
Also - can I be cheeky - can you send me the instructions for adding another company? They have a premium licence and two companies on there, with another to add now (they save everything in dropbox - so if there are any additional instructions for setting up the save documents 'path' that would be great - especially for a technophobe like me!)
Then in Nov/Dec they will have a fourth company to add so will need to upgrade!!
Does 12Pay run CIS reporting? I use Moneysoft for that for another company but am liking 12Pay more and more! Especially with all teh nice helpful people (not creeping, honestly, lol!!)
Thanks

In that situation just change the date to the 31st using one of the methods I mentioned in previous post.
You can file an EPS from Employer Form/Reports/RTI/EPS. Make sure that you select the correct year (currently 2014) and month (April=1 and so on) in the little form that appears for a few seconds. If there are no employee payments in that month the system will automatically generate a nil EPS for you. You cannot file nil EPS's until after the end of the PAYE month that they apply to (so for example October's cannot be filed until after Nov 6th)
To add another company either use the "New Employer" option from the employer selector that you get when you start the software up, or select "File / Create new Employer" from within any existing employer.
To do automatic backups to your Dropbox folder select "Find Employer/Auto Backup Folder" from the employer selector form, and select a folder in your dropbox folder in the windows open file dialog that appears. That will divert the automatic backups that the software does every time you complete a period to the nominated folder.
You can upgrade your licence at any time by logging in to the website and clicking the "Buy Now" button next to the Bureau licence. The upgrade price is pro-rata difference between Premium and Bureau licence.
Yes, you can add CIS extension to 12Pay at any time, just like buying a Bureau licence. There are some CIS FAQ on the website that will help, too.
Thanks for the kind words... Everyone loves Moneysoft, so it is great to be mentioned in the same breath.
Hi
Can you run 2 x payroll and therefore 2 x RTI reports for one company on the software? Theyve now decided might need to do one 31st for salaried staff and one the following 7th monthly for rest.
