IAAP Membership

I've been sent a letter (along with IAB membership renewal) offering me membership to the International Association of Accounting Professionals (IAAP).

I can't find any info on them and the website seems to be down. Is anyone a member and what are the benefits? I'm losing track of all these accounting organisations!

Hi,

The website is back up and they seem to have deleted details of the IAAP qualification that had been on the site. The IAAP qualification details that were on the site had the qualification set as a QCF Level 5 qualification.  QCF Level 5 is equivalent to an HND.  The Institute of Financial Accountants qualification is set at QCF Level 5.

The amount of information provided on the site is very poor.  I think this is the IAB's attempt at developing a professional accountant level qualification that their bookkeeping graduates can work towards rather than going to another accounting body.

David.

Frauke will be able to answer better than I can (as she's in the know) but I'm a part of them as well... Have AIAAP and MIAB after my name.
There are benefits to both, and the IAAP is a bit of a prestige thing too. Have a look on the IAB site, there's bound to be something on there.

I thought they worked closely with the IFA which includes level 5 qualifications. I just can't see the point in another association.

The only thing that I can think of Matt is that the IFA is a UK geared qualification (like ICAEW, ICAI and ICAS) where the IAAP is aimed like the IAB qualification at being truly international (like ACCA or AIA).

The only worrying thing there is does that mean that there is a fear of a breakdown in the existing close relationship between the IAB and IFA?
