Hi Gary, whats the tax code for each pay period and what date did he start? It might also be handy to know if there were year to date figures input from a P45 during the current tax year.
His first pay packet from me was actually September, but he came to me then and left employment with other company back in month 3 so should have been 'unemployed' for 2 months. and the tax to date was the 3949.61 as shown above ( and as shown on p45)
The 5466 is the previous employment then the 1516 i paid him on top.
Beginning to think i shouldn't have moved to 12pay from quickbooks.. :( cant even submit FPS either for some reason! (gonna need to call them i think)
less free pay to month 3 of (787 x 3) = £2361 = Taxable pay £1578 x 20% -------- £317
The £5466 states "This Employment" but no matter. Set against tax free pay to date of £787 x 6 months of £4722 = taxable pay of £741 x 20% = £149 but he's already paid £317 in the previous job meaning he should have had a refund of £168.
I really ought to use the table function. Anyway the employee ought to be pleased but the £300 tax figure on the left
payslip suggests that that months pay of £1516 was taxed at 20% as if on a BR wk1 code.
It looks like it the month that is throwing it out if its Oct you are doing then it should read month 7. Give them at 12 Pay a call they are really good on the phone. I had issues when I took over a payroll from someone else and they were really good with me and talked me through everything.
I have used QB's payroll in the past but I actually think 12 Pay is easier.
It looks to me as if when you entered this employee you may be double-counting their previous employment, because I would say that you've entered it both as a P45 *and* as earnings this employment. You only need to enter it once.
pm me a phone number and I'll talk you through sorting that out, which should take about 2 minutes.
Go down to Email visible to other members and choose "No, accept email anonymously"
That enables your PM facility but doesn't give your email address away.
kind regards,
Shaun.
