Any bookkeepers in Knutsford area (or willing to travel) who use Quick Books?
Permalink Closed

Hi Guys

Ive been approached by a potential client who is looking for a book-keeper.  Its about 1 day per week, he is keen to see monthly P&L and keep a close eye on his margins (and understand his break even etc); he collates stock through the software and uses an invoice discounting company.  He uses Quick Books software so needs someone who knows the software inside/out.

I understand there is payroll to do - for 1 or 2 people max.

I cant do it - I have very little spare capacity and his premises are just that bit too far to travel to (for me).

If anyone is interested let me know and we can chat further.

Hi Joanne,

I would struggle myself to fit it in, am based in Manchester too so it is a little too far. I could take on the payroll though if required

Hi Chris
I tried my best to help this man, even phoning an Accountant who had a guy who might have been able to help - but all he did was moan about how he is being ripped off by Accountants and Book-keepers/we all charge extortionate amounts......although he added he thought he could work with me (ha - no chance)!! I was fuming and muttering about it all day - cheeky man and even if anyone had spare capacity I would now be reluctant to pass it on to any of the nice peeps on here! But thanks for your reply, its appreciated!

Wouldnt mind but I met this guy a few months ago and we did get on really well, I think he has lost the plot since then!! I offered someone's services who knows QB inside out and would charge a bit more than he pays now but would get the work done in half the time (or even less), as his previous book-keepers are not trained, didnt know how to use Quick Books and advertised themselves as an 'Admin' agency (rather than book-keepers). He went beserkfurious - he just couldnt fathom that he would still be saving a fortune, despite paying a higher hourly rate! Im still fuming at his comments. I always said I wouldnt work with anyone I dont get on with and I wouldve worked with him a few months ago, but not now! Hope its going ok for you - you do right to be picky!!  biggrin

Sounds like hes best avoided!

Yeah, its going great so far. When I started I only had three days per week, but this has somehow increased to starting work around 7am and finishing around 6 5 days a week!

Whereabouts are you based? Im in Bolton near Manchester

Haha - I know that feeling. I was supposed to be part time but I seem run off my feet at the mo. Im over on the Stockport side, although about 6 of my customer's are Manchester based, so I still do a mini commute occasionally!

Yeah, Ive ended up travelling to Nelson, Burnley & Preston for a couple, but it makes a change! Id rather be doing this than working in the same office all week.
