In the event of a Christmas party for 20 people where there are 2 directors and no direct employees*

I have arrived at a figure of £32.47 a head so can £64.94 be offset against the two directors (a couple) or would it all be classed as standard entertainment?

*they have some self employed which explains the 20 people.

Thanks in advance

John

Im interested in this one too John.

My Eg 6 people on a Christmas party - one Director, two shareholders, two members of staff and their external book-keeper (ie me!).  Can the bill be put through, subject to the usual limits.  The boss will be taking the rest of the staff out on a seperate night.

Hope someone can assist us both

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

My works Christmas party has over 50 attendees which are employees and their partners/guests.
As far as I know if all goes through and we claim the VAT back on it.

On another note we do meet up with clients for meetings etc and pay for meals and drinks etc and this definitely gets coded to entertaining and therefore no VAT claimed and also cannot be offset for tax purposes.

Hope that helps.

Elaine
