Owes £1?
Permalink Closed

I have just completed a Directors SA tax return - Who draws a salary each month through PAYE  and have input the figures from his P60. The tax calculation states that they owe £1 ... Is this something to do with rounding? Even though I ticked the box to say any unpaid taxes can be collected through the PAYE it still saying at the end that the £1 has to be paid by 31st January 2014?

Anybody had this problem?

Best wishes

Georgie

Hi Georgie,
You've got it in 1! It's rounding so totally common. Unfortunately the return needs to be filed by 30th (not 31st for some reason!) of December to opt for the tax to be collected by PAYE. Saying that, HMRC won't chase for such a small amount anyway so I'd suggest you leave as it is, file the return as early as you can and tick the box next year!
Good luck
Darren
