Teaching myself Sage 50
Permalink Closed

Hello, I'm noticing that a lot of vacancies require Quickbooks or Sage 50 experience and I would like to practice using both as I haven't done so before.  I'm familiar with MYOB and basic accounting terms so not completely clueless.  I can buy a version of Quickbooks on amazon and get started with that at home but Sage seems hugely expensive to do that way.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get hold of an up to date version of Sage 50 to practice on at home?  I think a local course at a centre (if available) would be inconvenient timewise and may take too long, so home practice is the best way for me if I can get hold of a version.

Many thanks,

Emma

The test drive is a really good way to get to look around sage. One of the problems is sage changes so often companies are often on a lower version which looks a lot different, I still have clients on sage 50 2009.
I do have a copy of the sage 50 study bundle for sale if you would like to take your learning a step further.

Buy Sage 50 Study Bundle (3 stage) £220 only + £7.50 post (£335rrp). Based on 2013 (V19) see shop.sage.co.uk/accountsworkbooks.aspx
includes 180 day version of sage (per stage) & online sage certificate = £230 + £7.50 post. It is the 2013 version so a few changes however looking at the latest test drive would show you this.
Good luck with your job search

Hello Emma

I lead Sage UK's accredited qualification project where we supply every learner with their own copy of Sage V 2014 Accounts Professional, which is time limited. Many providers can offer one of our qualifications free of charge, depending on your circumstances - but you may find that helpful. In addition, upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate from Sage UK and your chosen awarding body, which would certainly help with your CV.

Kind regards

Not a problem Emma - Good luck whatever you decide to do. :@)

Shaun - Thanks so much! I think I got a little confused when doing it (obviously incorrectly). First time poster, long time reader. Hope to contribute to more as and when I can.
