I did mine last month... and that's only because I wanted my £1400 back!!! My part time job messed up my tax code and had me on 0T all year!!! I'm surprised I didn't notice if I'm honest.... but saying that who keeps and eye on your own details as much as you do clients....! lol

Obviously I dont! lol no

I have one more to do.

Handed their Return to them this afternoon and I'll be picking up their signed authorisation tomorrow morning then it's just push the button and............relax.

I think the guardian have got their penalties slightly confused in that article, Tim. Reading that and you would think that the £10 a day starts on the 1st February.

YES! I thought that. There might be less confusion if "Over" was inserted before '3 months' on this HMRC page :

www.hmrc.gov.uk/sa/deadlines-penalties.htm

It's a trifle convoluted. Whats with all these periods and numbers divisible by 3? LOL

Yes, though the example below clears it up. Trust the guardian

Yes, had all mine done, to then be told by a client, when I took it round for signing, "Oh sorry, I forget to mention that I'd had a tax refund this year". Never mind, all sorted and submitted now. An afternoon at the hairdressers sounds like a really good idea now

Final one done.

Stuck two fingers up at my computer monitor in defiance as I deprived HMRC of £100. The woman had accepted the return was going to be late but I managed to get it done in time.

WOOOOOOOOOO I'VE HAD COFFEEEEEEEEEEEE

SA 2011-12 (in for approval) and SA 2012-13 (accounts not yet finalised, waiting on info) for friend
(why do mates seem to think it's ok to drop records on you the night before!)

2012-13 - Partnership and 2 SA - waiting on last bit of accounts info

2012-13 simple SA - just awaiting bank interest

Had to tell one client there was no way it would be done in time, but he understood, and, as he has been ill, he will get the fine waivered, so no biggie (he's very behind on a lot of things, so that's the February diary booked up for me!)

On a side note, Andica support has been super amazing. You may have seen my query the other day about using something to bypass the need for a HMRC account, where I wouldn't get an agent code in time... so I invested in Andica Self Assessment software. I was having trouble submitting that return, last night. I emailed them sometime after 11pm, and they actually answered me within about 10 minutes!!! Turns out the client had given me the wrong UTR, but WOW!! I was well impressed!!

Just suggested to a colleague a bit of a wheeze by way of requesting a taxpayer log-in and password.

Hi Tim

I am agent for all but one already - the 2nd SA for the partnership job, which would have gotten by on this rule, but the UTR came this morning, and I needed Andica for another client, so its all good. :)

I'd prefer to get it all sorted today anyway. I've already picked up and put down this work too much over the last few months, waiting for client to answer queries! I'm going to do an Oasis, and roll with it :)

Hi Michelle,

My colleague (and no it's not me lol) is already agent for a particular client who is as tight as the proverbial crab. He doesn't want to file the Return on time and yet he doesn't want to get the client fined.

I'd have done the same as you. In fact, Andica saved my bacon when we were in between tax software.

I cant fault Andica at all. The software does what it says on the tin, and response time for queries is second to none.

File estimate and amend?

Excluding Partnerships, for which you can't use HMRC's own website, how is it better to use this?

I think I may switch to using something like this as the number of Returns grows.

I've only used it for the purposes of being on time, Peasie... I would use HMRC on any other day.

I wish he would.

As an aside, it's interesting why the Revenue are so keen on £10 per day penalties when they're so easy to avoid.

I am a little stumped by the extension and can only assume its because they haven't been as on the ball as they should be? I cant say that I have noticed any ridiculous wait times though? I have seen HMRC do things that are beyond belief, so its no surprise I guess

Its almost as crazy as putting up a speed camera to catch out the speeders, but then having to make it well known that a speed camera is there.. kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me (unless its me speeding and then I am all for it, hahaha!!)

Phew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That me done.

Got two still to be filed but one cant find his personal UTR (he originally gave me his company UTR so no wonder couldnt get him registered on my account or submit the return I had done for him) and the other who thought they had do do a return turns out they havent received a notice to do a return even though they got some self employment income.

Also got another 3 that have recently had their notice to do returns for 2012/13 but the 3 month rule supercedes tonights deadline.

Also submitted 10 estimates so will need to revisit them.

Also got mine done and got a nice little refund so all good.

Mark

Happy days, Mark!!

December VAT returns are the next hurdle, and then it's time to do some housekeeping! I've already made a start on the VAT so should be a much easier week. Have you got many left to do?

I. Use Andica for all my returns now. In answer to your question Peasie, I find it quicker than the HMRC's own, and because it's offline moving fom page to page is very quick too. It also reminds you of the figures you entered the previous year so helps to identify potential mistakes.

All in all, good value for me.

Yey - I cleaned my house today!!  But I dont think you meant that kind of housekeeping did you. biggrin  Well done everyone -another silly season out of the way and most of us are still breathing ok.  I did my own tax return on 6 April - do every year (how swotty is that!!) Caught up with all my BKN reading too now - missed everyone on here!  Got piles of VAT/companies being sold and the normal work-pile to sort hence why still working at 18.30 on a Saturday!

Other good point about Andica, Peasie, is that as long as you have your agent login it doesn't matter if your clients haven't got one.

So, 75 returns submitted and the best (and most complicated) one produced a £38,039 refund which was sent to my client within a week of submission!
