Now I dont want to kick off a mass debate, and discussion about if I should be doing it or not, but I really cant find anything online about it. So I wanted to ask my fraternity for some advice.
Jobcentre p45's are they to be treated the same as and ordinary income and normal p45? As i dont see anything on HMRC site as 'jobcentre income' as this is not taxed. Client has 4 separate p45's (he was in and out of employment a lot in 12-13) and I assume that the figures on them are not cumulative? ie.. p45:
1 = 191.06
2 = 318.44
3 = 445.81
4 = 275.04
Also assume that these just get added up and entered on return? If so where? As an employer or on page one of online return or page 3 under 'Have you had any 2012-13 Income Tax refunded or off-set by us or JobCentre Plus?'
This is one of my last returns to do and I'm stumped to where to put it! :/
I got one in the other day where similar P45 were a little ambiguous. Fortunately mine didn't have total income above the tax free allowances so it didn't matter so much.
Going off the conventional SA Return, boxes 12 and 14 on page 3 for refer to ESA and Jobseekers Allowance respectively.
I used both boxes and the P45's were quite clear about which benefit of the 2 they were referring to and headed as such.
At this stage of the game it's probably wiser to overstate income than understate. Also, if the documents are ambiguous you would have some grounds at least for making a subsequent amendment.
