Hi, I have always used Sage and most of the time I find it ok. However, I am starting out on my own and can't believe the price of the Sage multi-company software!!
Does anyone have any advice on accountant friendly software for use with 5-10 clients?
You can have a two month free trial to see whether you like it or not.
Its single user multi PC, multi client (you can add more users if you wish later).
There is no limit to the number of clients that you can have on it as they are just created as .vtr files which you open and then thats your current company.
I use VT Accounts as well but such is not necessary for many as VT Transaction+ comes with a perfectly servicable P&L and B/S.
Thats my vote anyway. Just do a seearch of this site and Accountingweb for VT and you will see that I'm not alone in my praise for it.
kind regards,
Shaun.

Hi, we now strictly use 3 cloud solutions, Xero, FreeAgent and now QuickBooks.
regarding multi companies, with cloud solutions you have to pay per subscription for each company. If you're using Xero, FA it can become rather expensive, however we merge the costs into our pricing.
with QuickBooks online, as I'm part of their cloudpro scheme, I can get a company file for £4.99 each for life! Normally this retails at 29pm so there are some good deals around.
have a look at the 3 I mentioned, our bookkeeper prefers to use Xero and QuickBooks Online and we can add our bkeeper and clients on one platform.
we use VT for accounts prod, it's simple, affordable and does the job.

Thanks Shaun, I am happy to try any software really my only concern is with the accountants, are they usually ok with VT?
Most accountants will have clients that use VT so they will have VT themselves.
If not then all they need is the exported excel file of nominal, TB, list of debtors/creditors etc and they should be able to work with it.
I have a client that I was working on today using a package called AccountingEdge. Have never heard of it before but was able to get everything in excel/pdf and use that to do the accounts.
