Starting out independently

Hello, sorry if it seems all I do is ask lots of questions but I do really appreciate the advice from you all.

Ok - I have 4 clients now and am looking forward to starting the new ones asap.

I am already registered for self-assessment from when I was a director of a Ltd company, I have registered for MLR and have a lovely new accountant to work with.

Do I need to do anything else with regards to HMRC? Do I need to tell them I am trading as a sole-trader now?

Thanks biggrin

You need to register to be an agent of HMRC.
This will enable you to submit returns on peoples behalfs.

You will first have to register as an agent THEN activate the services your need access to individually, PAYE, SA, VAT... etc etc... Its not a easy or quick process so pay attention when doing it. :D

Then that'll be you set to go... oh what about PII insurance? (not 100% needed but advisable to have!)
