Progressing from AAT to ACCA

Hi, just wondering what the procedure is for progressing from AAT level 4 to ACCA, there doesn't seem to be a lot of guidance on the ACCA website as to what is required if you have level 4 and what exemptions apply.

Hi Sam,

be careful of regulation 8 if you go down that route as it effectively stops you from doing anything beyond trial balance, VAT and Payroll even if you are allowed to offer those services under AAT. (Once you sign up ACCA rules always take precedence over everyone elses).

For exemptions take a look at the exemptions database here :

portal.accaglobal.com/accrweb/faces/page/public/accreditations/enquiry/main/EnqInstitutionsTable.jspx;jsessionid=d34dd8a884098cf9b14239f945e1081b4cdba525793bec82c328e0939de9577e.e3eRaxaLaxaTe34Pbx4KahaNc3v0n6jAmljGr5XBqAXPq0

that should go directly to AAT but if not just type AAT in the top box and United Kingdom underneath.

Be careful taking exemptions with ACCA as when I did it I took the exams where the rest of my group took the exemptions... I was the only one that completed it... Actually, I was the only one that got past the 4th paper!

The papers are very different to AAT with a lot more emphasis on analysis and reading whats not written on the exam paper.

Exemptions take the form of guaranteed passes so you pay for the exams whether you sit them or not..

Good luck with that path. If you need any help at all along the way do not hesitate to ask.

Also, don't forget to check out the free Opentuition lectures. When your lucky enough to do a subject where Mike Little is tjhe lecturer he makes studying fun.

Sure that we'll be talking a lot over the next 5+ years as you progress through,

kind regards,

Shaun.
