ICB after AAT Please help
Permalink Closed

Hello !

I want to join the ICB after completing AAT.

I have completed all three levels of AAT on November 2012 so I think I am still in the 2 years period to get all the exemptions.

I would kindly like to ask:

1. What material is good to study in order to get back on track and update my studies with the ICB skills,

should I purchase the books from ICB site or should I contact the training providers for the study materials?

2. Please, could someone help me with my membership application as I have seen that this could take months and I could miss the 2 year period.

Thank you for your consideration,

Kind regards,

Adrian

Whats wrong with AAT? Seriously. Why are you leaving them? What are they not doing that you need them to do?

If you go ICB (which I expect you to as you seem very interested in their gatherings) I don't see why it would take them months. A close freind of mine just used AAT exemptions to move up to ACCA (Proud of you m'boy) and it took two days. Why would ICB be any less competent?

Also, wouldn't the exemptions be based on when the application is received not when they get around to processing it?

Anyway, you need input from James to confirm that one.

For study materials if your using a training provider then they will supply the materials. If not then buy them from Amazon as they're normally cheaper on there than from ICB or direct from Kaplan (plus you get the option of free delivery).

Here's the Kaplan page. Grab the ISBN's and then find them on Amazon (ICB in the search box doesn't find them for dome reason but the ISBN's do) :

kaplan-publishing.kaplan.co.uk/estore/Pages/BookSelection.aspx

kind regards,

Shaun.

Hi Adrian,

The time is dependent on referees if needed, or sometimes bankruptcy/criminal history if any that needs to be evaluated.

As you have completed full AAT within 2 years it should be a pretty quick process (couple of weeks max as long as no other info affecting your application).

Regarding books I wouldn't get the Kaplan/ICB books as they are probably pretty much the same as the AAT books you already have, depending on who you studied with.

Other good books are offered by Peter Marshal http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Book-Keeping-Dr-Peter-Marshall/dp/1845284461

Good luck!

Just to confirm ICB offer free delivery and are the same price as Kaplan. Amazon prices change but can be cheaper so always check + have second hand books even cheaper, but have limited stock (currently sold out of Level 1 and 2).

Hello !

Thank you Shaun and James for the replies.

For Shaun:
I need to start this.
First of all,I like AAT, and it is a very useful qualification.
My dream is to work in accountancy practice.
Because ICB offer so many networking opportunities and it could help me to have my own business I definitely love to join ICB too.

For James:
If books are the same maybe I will just upgrade the AAT ones.
I have used Kaplan and BPP Books.

Thank you,

Kind regards,

Adrian
