The Simplify Group was formed in 2013 and is a holding company which has to date invested in Chorus Law Ltd. and Move with Us Ltd. The business is expanding rapidly both organically and by acquisition with a focus on the consolidating legal services marketplace.

 

The Simplify Group has highlighted the need for a talented, commercial and strategically minded Financial Controller to support the Chorus Law business in its transition from an entrepreneurial owner-managed business to being part of a more formal and corporate group of companies.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a business at the embryonic stage of it's growth plans.

The position will report into the CFO and will be a key player in the refining and improvement of internal controls, processes and management reporting. Key duties will include:

  • Production of robust financial and non-financial reports to board level
  • Detailed and complex modelling and analysis of financial and business data
  • Managing a small team of 3 finance professionals and a further 7 responsible for deceased estate accounts and client funds of £100m
  • Acting as a business partner to drive:

o The strategic plan

o Profitability

o Financial planning and budgeting processes

 

Who we're looking for

 

Whilst the individual needs to have financial acumen, supported with a professional qualification, the successful candidate will demonstrate the personality, confidence in communication and aptitude to deliver in a rapidly changing environment. The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding as a Financial Controller in a robust, growth orientated environment
  • Have the ability to lead, manage and develop a financial team 
  • Have Excellent spreadsheet and modelling skills 
  • Be able to demonstrate a proven track record of effective financial management and implementation of controls
  • Have IT skills with experience of accounting systems. In particular knowledge of Sage would be advantageous
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills 

Knowledge of the legal services sector or related industry would be a distinct advantage but is not essential.

 

About our client

 

The Simplify Group is an exciting legal services and property services business comprising three main operating units. The group was formed in 2013 and is now embarking on it's next phase of growth with further investment. The combined Group has a turnover of £100m and EBIT of £10m of which Chorus/Simplify currently accounts for £15m and £1.5m respectively which is expected to grow rapidly. Chorus employs 250 of the Group's 550 staff. The Chorus Law business is based in modern offices in Stratford-Upon-Avon with good accessibility.

 

This Financial Controller position will give the business a robust reporting structure and infrastructure to support the business with its very ambitious growth plans.

£55,000 - £60,000 + benefits
