Own year end accounts and CT
Permalink Closed

Hi

Am thinking of running my business through a Ltd company rather than sole trader.  As Im merely a book-keeper Ive had no involvement in producing those final accounts and filing Corp Tax but if I did decide to do it myself  - would I need specific software to file the CT.  Failing that - just wondered if anyone has an idea what an account would be likely to charge for a very small company (say £40k t/o)?

Hi Joanne,

I use VT Accounts to create the iXBRL file to do my filing but you could just enter all of the figures provided by your software into the HMRC screens (just makes it a little more lengthy process).

HMRC want the full version of the accounts filed with the CT600 where you would only need to file abreviated with Companies House.

Doing your own is good practice to gain the necessary experience for when you move up to providing the service for others.

Ignore my earlier comment in another thread. Totally different situation that wound me up a little about the difference between whether one could and whether one should.

The only thing that gives one a right to file isn't a bit of paper from a professional body, it's experience, either supervised or gained doing it as you will by doing your own before selling the service to others.

Good kuck hun,

all the best,

Shaun.

Do you know that in Scotland, using that three letter word could land you in jail? I've seen reports of someone being jailed for having that word (in another context) on a tee-shirt. A judge has ruled that it can be deemed sectarian. Up here it is used (by some) to refer in a none too kind manner to supporters of Rangers FC (and to a lesser extent Hearts).

lol Peasie, its funny how some words just don't travel.

When in London I threatened to twat someone (actually, it was more of a promise than a threat) which in the Midlands is a common term meaning to do someone serious damage. However down South apparently it refers to a certain part of the female anatomy and a young lady got most annoyed at my use of the word and I ended up having words with senior management about use of swear words in the office... Lol, around here its a playground level word (hich I suppose was the context that it was being used in, lol).

In the UK as in most of the world, Ikea means a place to go for flat pack furniture. In North East Thailand put serious emphasis on the Kea part of the word and its the equivalent of f**k you... Hardly surprising you don't see many of the big blue and yellow building there.

Hun in the Midlands is simply short for hunny (although thats far too sickly to use and I wouldn't). Its a term of endearment used with even the most casual of acqaintances... Pretty much the same sort of use as Duck in Nottinghamshire. Also interchangable around here with chuck, bud, ar kid and me little fruitcake.

I'm, sure that even in Scotland where it has an alternate meaning the word would be considered in relation to the context in which it is used rather than simply at face value. Certainly I've dated a couple of Edinburgh lasses and they never made anything of it... Although maybe they would if they realised that the reason that I use the word hun is that I've been known to use the wrong girls name but if you call them all hun you can't go too far wrong. wink

I'd be more concerned about using "kuck". I assumed it was a mis-spelling until I checked the Urban Dictionary!

Hi Joanne

Have a look at our fees page for limited companies on our website http://stewartaccounting.co.uk/fees/limited-companies/

We do a 6 point plan including

1. Full accounts and abb accounts to CH

2. CT return prepared and submitted to HMRC

3. Prepare up to 2 directors Personal Tax Returns and submit to HMRC.

4. Payroll for up to 2 employees

5. Prepare and submit annual return to CH

6. Fee protection insurance to cover our fees from any enquiry or investigation by HMRC.  Basically our fees are covered for any work done.

Based on turnover of £40k with good records our fee would be £720 (we arent VAT registered so no VAT on top).

If you have any queries feel free to drop me an email to mark@stewartaccounting.co.uk or give me a call on 01259 721156.

Feel free to have a look at our new updated website www.stewartaccounting.co.uk which explains what we do and the services we provide.  There is also a list of testimonials from our clients that we have assisted.

If you havent already set up the limited company we normally charge £50 for basic online set up.  But would do this free of charge if you want to go ahead with the accounts.

Regards

Mark

Good kuck hun,

all the best,

Shaun.

Ive only read the previous threads last night - started with a laugh over a certain franchise situation, got annoyed with the comments from a newbie (who I wanted to put back in his box or at least suggest if he doesnt like this website he should set one up of his own!) and ended up stunned by some of the rest (I wont say more on here in fear of it starting up again).  I was thinking of PM'ing you but I ended up having a row with a so -called mate.

Anyway - I dont take offence - Im quite proud of being a book-keeper and I tell my clients that is what I am (and not an Accountant).   I think qualifications play a big role but so to does the attitude of the person doing the job. Those with a good attitude do it right, well, honestly and actually care about doing a good job so dont leave a mess - a lot of people just like to turn up/do 8 hours and think thats enough - in so many walks of life these days. I am also un-raveling messes by other people both less and way more qualified than me. I always ask my clients accountants if I can do anything differently/better and Ive not had anything bounced back (well not yet anyway)

One thing I will say is that I wouldnt do anyone else's year end until I am appropriately qualified, only mine would be so simple (and Im tight with money, oops I mean careful!!) and its my bag if they are wrong so thats ok.

Re 'hun' - I take that as a term of endearment coming from a man with many ex-wives buried in a wood. lol.  Made me smile anyway!  Might have it printed on the front of a T-shirt, with kuck on the back (!!) but will remember not to pack it for when I visit Scotland!  Stokies use the word 'duck' - I found it quite endearing although my son hated it after three years at Uni at Keele. My brother lived in Coventry and tried to order a bacon muffin and they had no idea what he was talking about -isnt the English language just great.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks Mark - I will take a look at your updated site  - it would only need to be the CT return I reckon, although still not sure if Im switching to 'Ltd' yet or not.  Will let you know.

Feel free to PM me anytime Joanne. Anything said offline is never repeated online.

I'm generally good for a chat although if I'm in the middle of something responses can be a bit slow.

A few times recently I've written resonses to posters on the site but canned them before hitting send as when I proof read what I've written I'm left thinking, ok, I've got something off my chest but (a) what good would it do either myself or the recipient. And (b) would it put others that I would not have been so abrupt eith off posting questions.

lol. Just read the urban slang for Kuck! Before your other half appears on my doorstep brandishing a baseball bat it was just a typo, honest.

Talk in a bit,

Shaun.

Binned him years ago - am happily in the land of divorced single parent, although my son is now a 6'4  24year old.  (Yes I was VERY young when I had him - ok maybe not soooo young)

Working tomorrow and maybe Saturday (the joys of being self employed!!) - got to play catchup as I took a couple of days off to chill in Yorkshire and just taken on a new client with no handover and a backlog! Might just go out for the day somewhere if it is sunny - Anglesey perhaps. Son off work on Sunday (he normally works holidays as he is a chef!) - so will maybe have a DVD chillout with him.

Dont do too much work - save some time for monkey gin in your garden.
