Deregistering for VAT in Quickbooks

I have a client who uses QuickBooks who is deregistering for VAT.  Has anyone got any experience of doing this in QuickBooks.  I want it to use VAT until 30 April and then not from 1 May.  Is that possible?  Thanks

You need to submit your last VAT return and then change your VAT settings on Quickbooks.

To do this, you go to Edit and then Preferences. Go down to the VAT section and then click on Company Preferences. You then need to check the No box where it says Do you Charge VAT.

Kind regards

Zöe

Thanks, so do I need to make sure I have all the invoices in for the period prior to the deregistration? This particular client seems to get invoices in months after they are dated and it means I can't do any of the rest of the bookkeeping until we are sure that they are all in I guess? I was hoping it would be clever enough to know that transactions before a certain date have VAT and transactions after don't.
