How long does it take HMRC to process a MLR application? It's three weeks since they should have received mine, I've had no response yet and they haven't banked the cheque. Is it a bit early to start chasing them? In this age of instant online transactions, posting a paper form and sending a cheque is rather weird!
lol... If only interest, penalties and surcharges worked both ways around John.
My first suggestion would be that we can charge them a penalty for the cost for our time if it takes them more than five minutes to pick the phone up.
On the original question its been a couple of years since I was with HMRC for MLR but as I recall it was quite a fast process.
Then again, things change and from what I understand they are doing more with less staff.
You could always give them a call to check whether it is currently being processed?

I'll try to contact them, but like to know the facts first if possible! It's fortunate that I've got plenty to do on another business I'm working on, so am not just sitting at my desk twiddling my thumbs until they get round to dealing with it!
I posted my MLR form on 8th April, and today received a letter dated 30th April stating it can take up to 45 days to process an application. So now I'm wondering if that's 45 days from when I sent it, or 45 days from the date of their letter! I suppose I'll find out in a couple of weeks when I chase them up by ye olde faxe, as there's no e-mail contact!
It's lucky I've still got savings to live off, and don't need to queue up at the nearest food bank!
