Cloud payroll software recommendations required
Permalink Closed

Due to massive downsizing where I am currently working, I want to change from our current payroll software which comes with extensive costs for support and licences etc to a cloud based system that will handle 2 separate companies, with a probable maximum of 10 employees each in the long term.

I have been looking at Sage One but have not been massively impressed with my free trial and wondered if anyone can recommend another cloud option that might fit the bill.  The reason I want to use the cloud is because I am being made redundant at the end of the month but will continue to manage the accounting and payroll function on a self employed basis so would like to be able to access it from home if necessary.

Thanks in anticipation of any input!

Why cloud based?

There are much cheaper multicompany desktop based options than Sage Payroll such as Moneysoft and 12pay (now part of the IRIS stable of products).

With the automatic penalties that will eventually come with RTI the thought of trusting Payroll to a cloud based system seems to me right up there with playing a game of hopscotch in the fast lane of the M1.

I want cloud based purely because I want to be able to access it from anywhere that I happen to be working. No other reason.

From being over 120 employees and really complicated it has now become so simple that perhaps I should get the old Kalamazoo out and do it by hand!

I use a cloud based payroll software called MyPAYE. I've found it really good. The only thing is that they changed the front end and I can't find anything now.

The cost is 75p per employee per month regardless of how often payroll is run. It has a lot of extras and can automatically email the employees or employer payslips. Employees and employers can be given a login to view reports etc.

Nothing like as dangerous as playing on the M1.

Another possible solution would be to access your computer remotely using teamviewer or such like. This is what I do if I am not at my normal computer..

I use my PAYE, and so far the support has been outstanding. for myself I choose a cloud solution not just for the access anywhere, but mainly for the security aspect. Most cloud solutions have bank level security so I felt it was safer than having employee details on my own pc. As regards RTI the cloud providers know the dead lines too, so why should that make a difference?  My only problem was when  I had a massive internet problem but was able to use a mobile phone to connect to it so ways and means. Hope that helps for what its worth. I like the fact that you only pay for what you use, so from a kashflow point of view its good

very best wishes
