Hi,

Does anybody use Sage Payroll and can tell me what the support is like? Currently I use Iris for one client and you can wait 45 minutes to get through and talk to someone...

I use Sage payroll and have never rang their support, but i imagine it is similar to support for accounts, which is OK. It depends on who you get but i dont think i have ever had to wait for 45 minutes on hold.

Scottish Power however........ but that is a different story

Morning Nick

The client I use Iris for is staging (AE) next October and I don't know whether to switch to Sage . When RTI came in I thought Iris was pretty useless to be honest (my opinion) . I have seen on the the Moneysoft website that they will not be operating the AE package like Sage and Iris . I use Moneysoft for about 10 clients. Although the staging date for the next client isn't until 2016 I am now wondering whether I should switch all my clients to either Sage or Iris as I don't see how it will all work and come together. Can you imagine emailing all your clients each month and saying "this employee is now eligible, send them a letter" for example. I know it is their responsibility but I think most employers will hand it over to someone else to manage.

I am considering dropping payroll altogether, as I think AE will be a nightmare. I found out the other day that 40% of business didn't stage in May, have they all used postponement or don't have a clue.!? And I think the problem will get a lot worse as the smaller companies/business stage. They don't have the resources or time to throw at this.

I think we should have a whole new forum just for AE (smiling)

I'm just studying for my ICB Payroll Diploma and am using Sage 50 provided by Ideal Schools.  The course materials all work through tax year 2013-14 rather than the current year and there appears to be known issues with the P32 reporting - you have to go to year end rather than the current month. Now it looks like there is a "known issue" with the HMRC Payments Box doubling the amount of NIC compensation on SMP.

Called this morning and the wait was just under half an hour - this afternoon it was just under 45 minutes. It's not even a free phone number.

I use Sage payroll and have always received excellent support from Sage- at busy times such as Tax Year End you can be on hold forever but usually it is quite straight forward to get through

Love the guys from Sage for the excellent support!  Sage covers all memberships more than just software support packages. They answer your questions, offer support and advice for your business, and provide expert guidance.

I keep meaning to change over to 12 pay, I just get caught out every year and leave it too late.

Hi Steve

Will 12pay assess the workforce each month when they auto enrol? I use Moneysoft for my clients but as they are not going to bolt anything on for AE I will have to change to a different software provider . What is everybody else going to do?

I use. sage but only have one client who is on AE. They have around 250 employees and the bolt on assessing software was an additional £1400 plus vat, so certainly not a cheap option. I do think Sage payroll is excellent and the support first class too if you are in the accountants club as you get a priority telephone line. I am hating AE though!

Wow! That IS EXPENSIVE! Iris is half that price ...

I am not looking forward to AE I have to be honest. My first client doesn't stage till 2016 but the company I am employed with stage next October. No offer of training or support though . Am hoping I will pick up a few more clients before then so I can tell them to sling their hook!
