I use Clearbooks. Do you have experience of any other cloud accounting software or is this your first. Most of the cloud packages are similar behind the scenes, it is the dashboard etc. that varies. There is a wealth of information online for Clearbooks including downloadable help guides and you could sign up for a 30 day free trial and explore the software that way, either inputting your own data or using the sample data already on there.
Hi Gordon,
I use Freeagent, Xero and also Quicbooks. I don't do much on any of them to be honest but i can find my way around. I have won myself a new client and told them i have used it before so need to get crscking on it. I need to be able to enter purchase invoices as they are posting them out to me very soon.

If you have used Xero you should have no problem with Clearbooks. From the dashboard click on purchases and then either add a supplier if not already added or click on create, under bills and follow the invoice screen. There should be a demo company that you can access and it will allow you to practice anything that you are uncertain about .There are also downloadable help guides that cover most topics. Like most software the best way to learn is to play around with it and familiarise yourself with the layout and help features.
Me again. I've now gained access to my client quickbooks and am about to start work. I have been sent some invoices for purchases and sales.
I've downloaded my first bank statement. Yippee! Now I have to enter the invoices and match them against the bank statement.
I see from the above post that you say I need to go to Purchases and create. Once that is done do I go back to bank statements and click on the item that I need to match?
As I view the latest bank statement it is under imported statements that need explaining. Once I have match the transactions will it show under the bank account above that shows the current statement balance?
Sorry to ask so many questions but I don't want to get this wrong as this client is one that could potentially grow significantly and give me more work so need to get it right.
Your imported bank statement is, at this stage, are just a list of transactions that have no effect on the accounts. As you explain a transaction it will move from the list to the bank account, repeat until there are no unexplained transactions left. At this point the balance on the bank statement should match the balance in Clearbooks. There are 2 ways to process invoices:
1. Input in advance to the relevant supplier/customer account then match against the bank payment/receipt.
2. Create the invoice from the explain screen as you work through the transactions.
I strongly recommend getting familiar with and using the help guides within the software-click on the blue "need help" link on the top right of any page. There are step by step examples with screenshots within the guides for most entries.
There is also the Clearbooks Community, a forum where users post queries, ideas etc.
Last but not least, there is email and phone support from Clearbooks themselves. They also have webinars, phone tuition and on site training, so give them a call and see what they can offer you.
I thought the steps 1 and 2 would be the options so like you said in the original post it is very similar to the other cloud packages.
I have managed to find my way around with the others but there is something with this client that makes me want to really impress them as they have the potential to grow considerably. They are a film production company so it could grow quite big over the coming years and I would like to grow with them.
Thanks again and I will take a look at the help buttons etc.
Looking for a bit more help with clear books. I am matching the bank transactions off and any items that I cannot match as there is no invoice/receipt I have to add them to a spreadsheet.
I have to try and copy and paste them but cannot see how this is done.
when I look at existing transactions that are already on the spreadsheet, if I click on them it takes me back to the bank statement so it's a bit like a hyperlink. Not sure if it is done through the import tool.
Can anyone talk me through how to get these unmatched transactions across to the spreadsheet?
