One of my clients has been asked for a "Crown position confirmation (VAT/PAYE) from his bank. I have never heard of this, does anyone have any idea what it is and if this is something I need to contact HMRC for?!!
Never heard of this either! Has his bank asked for it? Do you know why he has been asked for it? The only thing I can say it sounds like, is a statement of account from HMRC to prove debts?
Might be worth a call to the general helpline of both the bank and HMRC? Let us know what you find!
I've not seen one myself but are they not where payments that a defendant is claiming have been made have been disputed in court by HMRC?
Is your client in trouble and they're not keeping you in the loop?

He is trying to raise finance and has been asked by the bank to provide this. Will give HMRC a call tomorrow - didn't want to sound daft on the phone to them!
Ah, its the bank asking for it, not the crown. Ignore my previous post I'm talking about something different.
Basically, I read the words "from his bank" as meaning "from his bank", not "by his bank".

If he's after finance, they may just want to see what his HMRC debts are like.. I have never seen anyone asked for this, so maybe they have seen something on his credit rating? But I guess that depends on the size of the loan?!
